Dr. Russ Sabella brings more than three decades of expertise in counseling, technology, and program development to Our Mother’s Home. A past president of both the American and Florida School Counselor Associations, Russ has trained thousands of counselors and educators nationwide and authored numerous books—including Solution‑Focused School Counseling and GuardingKids.com—that equip professionals to support vulnerable youth.

At FGCU, he prepares future counselors to create data‑driven, comprehensive school counseling programs that foster resilience, digital safety, and mental‑health wellness. His specialties—solution‑focused brief counseling, stress‑management, group development, and cyber‑safety—align directly with our mission to help young mothers in foster care and survivors of human trafficking break generational cycles and thrive.

Russ’s deep experience designing, implementing, and evaluating counseling programs will strengthen OMH’s wrap‑around support services; his leadership in digital citizenship will help us keep residents safe in an increasingly online world; and his knack for data analytics will ensure our initiatives remain effective and measurable. We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Sabella to the Board as we expand our impact for the young families we serve.
